Nine year old Max was diagnosed with autism and Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder (ADHD). He lives at home with his mum Jo, dad Jamie, little brother Archie and little sister Aubrey in West Sussex.
Though she has some likable qualities, Max overcompensates for her insecurities and ends up hurting people in her carelessness. Some people are turned off by her over-the-top theatrics, which is why she isn't one of the most likable Ginny & Georgia characters.

By season 2, episode 4, MANG has gotten back together, and Max forgives Ginny for lying about being with Marcus and Abby for knowing and not telling her. Max even does her best to embrace the fact that her best friend is in love with her brother.
The first time we see her burn herself is in season 1, episode 2, when, after a particularly overwhelming day, Ginny turns off the light, closes her bedroom door, and takes a lighter to her inner thigh. Scars from past burns are clearly visible, as are angry welts from recent ones.
